Spending almost an entire holiday being sick certainly puts a dampener on family time.
Or does it?
It was difficult managing on little sleep while feeling like death. It was hard getting grumpy at each other because we had cabin fever. At times, Duncan and I got crabby because we both wanted to go to bed and neither of us wanted to get stuck with the kids.
But it was the best thing for us.
If we hadn't been sick, we'd probably have fallen into old habits, rushing around trying to visit everyone. We'd most likely have ended up more tired than when we'd left.
It might not have been what we'd planned, but it was what we needed.
