5 Reasons Why Blogging is Better Than Facebook

1.  You can write so much more and explain what you mean in more detail, rather than having to make a quick update that may be misunderstood.
2.  You don't have to use your full name (or even your real name).
3.  You can limit your audience more.  If you want to blog without all of your acquaintances finding it and reading it, it's easier to do so - just don't tell them or advertise it on Facebook.
4.  You get to 'meet' new people.  Facebook tends to be about connecting more with people you already know.
5.  There are more customisation options.  You can 'personalise' your blog more than you can your Facebook page.

If you're a blogger who's also a Facebooker, what ways do you think blogging is BETTER than Facebook.

Well you've pretty much covered it. Another one, though, is that I'm not tempted to spend as much time on blogging as Facebooking!

Blogging gives me incentive to write, which is something Facebook doesn't.

Actually though of one more as soon as I hit "Publish". Blogging is often a more thoughtful place than Facebook. On Facebook you race through dozens of things, but often don't dwell for long on anything. Blogs make you pause a while.

Yes, very true, Wendy. I think blogging is more designed to be for 'deep' writing (if you want it to be), whereas if you're too deep on Facebook, you get accused of oversharing.

I like blogging because it tends to be slower and more thought through. Facebook operates at a fast pace and I find it all too easy to get drawn into a "conversation" and make knee-jerk reaction comments that I later wish I hadn't said. Blogging makes it easier to guard my tongue - which is not about being guarded but about being careful in speech.

But yes, as we have chatted about before, there is much less commenting these days on blogs, which is a bit of a shame. The community still exists but it's not so present.

Yes, all true. Especially what Meredith says at the end, people comment your blog-posts on FB and they´re kinda "gone".
Blogger is more structured, too. You only see your own stuff and when there is an "argument" on how it was back then, you can easily find your blog-entry and say: Ha, see? I´m right (well, or, ups, yep, you were right after all) ;-)
