This was the best cake I could manage in this season of life. |
Everyone was singing Happy Birthday. |
Pretending to be shy. |
Trying out his new Thomas folding chair from Amanda and family. |
Teddy having a turn on the chair. |
I blinked and I have a three-year-old!

I think it is a gorgeous cake. One of my boys asked for lots of numbers through the years. Now he's into double figures, it isn't such an attraction. I often get discouraged by my efforts at "the cake" but usually the boys are wowed by whatever effort I do. Their main focus is, of course, eating it! Don't put yourself down, you're doing the best job you can with what you have and who you are.
I agree with Wendy about the cake, and numbers have been popular at our place too. One of the easier requests I've had (for a birthday when I felt up to offering requests) was for a cake in the shape of a triangle!
Thanks Wendy. Rory was stoked with it, so that's all that matters. For days afterward, he was saying, "Me eat the birthday cake." He thought the cake would last forever.
Great to see the photos and so glad he likes the chair.
