I Don't Know How You Do It

Why do some women take this remark as such an insult (when said in the context of balancing parenting with other responsibilities)?

I know I say it when I'm full of admiration about how they can handle things when I go to pieces facing much less.

I don't get it.  Please explain....

I've been pondering this. I wonder if you're being taken the wrong way: as in they think you're being sarcastic or criticising them for doing too much? Mums can be very sensitive these days. I haven't met you Sarah, but I wonder if people misread you more often than they should!

I've met a few people who've said that they've said this to other mums and meant it well, only to be taken the wrong way. Strange! If someone said it to me, I'd take it as a compliment.
